Privacy
What PolarPeek stores and sends, in plain words.
Short version: no accounts, no cookies, no ads, no tracking.
- Your location is used only in your browser. If you press “Use my location”, the coordinates are rounded to about 1 km and stored in your browser’s local storage so the site remembers your place. For cloud cover and aurora probability we send coordinates rounded to 0.1° (about 10 km) to our own server, which forwards them to MET Norway and reads NOAA’s public model. Nothing is logged against you.
- Your settings (display mode, reduced effects, chosen place) live in local storage on your device. Clear it at any time in your browser.
- Direct requests: to show the live Kp, your browser loads NOAA’s public JSON from services.swpc.noaa.gov. NOAA receives your IP address like any website you visit.
- Hosting: the site runs on Cloudflare, which processes IP addresses to deliver and protect the site.
If we ever add analytics or advertising, this page will say so first, and we will ask for consent where the law requires it. Questions: hello@polarpeek.com.
